After many meetings and a few setbacks on finding a good location for this years Punk Illegal Festival, we’ve finally decided not to arrange a full outdoor festival this year. However! We will host a two day festival at 128:A (former Härden) with workshops, bands, good food and everything else you’ve come to expect from PI-events!

In the meantime we’re aiming for an outdoor festival next year, maybe again in Munkedal or another of the many parks we’ve visited this autumn/winter.

Thanks to everyone who visited, volunteered at, and arranged 2011 years Punk Illegal Fest, number four. We have now, after a longer summer break than usual, sorted out our economical situation. Despite much fewer visitors than last year, which made us worry we would actually loose money, things look a little brighter and we are happy to announce that we can support the No one is illegal-network with 20.000 SEK (2100 EUR). We have also decided to give 10.000 SEK (1050 EUR) to Aktion mot deportation (”Action against deportation”, a direct action network organizing blockades against refugee detention centers etc), because of fines of a total of 42.500 SEK (4500 EUR) they have to pay.

We are a small group of people who have tried to get the work for next year’s festival started, but we have now had to realize that we are too few to manage. The work has strained the arranging group to the extreme, some more than others, and the group has decreased in numbers. Despite the fact that people are showing their interest and sympathy, the arranging group has not grown to a reasonable number. Therefore we have decided to not arrange a festival the summer of 2012.

Of course, this is sad for us who have been working for so long – but we want to continue, even though we’re too few to arrange a festival! So we are talking about arranging smaller shows and maybe other stuff too, while waiting to check out interest for arranging a festival in 2013! Keep your eyes open!

Tack till alla som besökte, arbetade på, och arrangerade 2011 års festival, den fjärde i ordningen! Vi  har nu, efter ett längre sommaruppehåll än vanligt, koll på ekonomin. Trots mycket färre besökare än förra året, som gjorde oss oroliga för att gå back, ser det nu lite ljusare ut och vi kan bidra med 20.000 kr till Ingen människa är illegals direkta arbete med gömda flyktingar. Vi har också beslutat att bidra med 10.000 kr till Aktion mot deportation, som har att betala 42.500 kr för domarna mot 11  asylaktivister.

Vi är ett litet gäng som försökt starta igång arbetet inför nästa års festival, men nu har vi insett att vi är för få för att orka. Arbetet har under de senaste åren slitit otroligt mycket på arrangörsgruppen, på vissa mer än andra, och gruppen har efter hand minskat. Trots att många uttrycker intresse och peppar oss som håller på, har arrangörsgruppen inte lyckats komma upp i ett antal som känns rimligt. Vi har därför bestämt oss för att inte arbeta för en festival sommaren 2012.

Det känns såklart sorgligt för oss som brunnit för detta länge – men vi vill ju fortsätta, trots att vi är för få för att arra en festival! Så vi har pratat om att fortsätta att arrangera spelningar och kanske också andra grejer, i väntan på att känna läget inför sommaren 2013. Håll ögonen öppna!

We have now released 100 one day tickets for each day! The tickets costs 350 SEK and is available online just like the two day tickets. So what are you waiting for? Its just a week left to the festival. Get your ticket now!

Unofficial festival bus drives from Stockholm via E20 route Södertälje – Eskilstuna – Örebro – Mariestad – Lidköping. We leave from Helsinki 1am at night between 22nd and 23rd, book your own ferry ticket! We start from Stockholm/Stadsgården/Viking-terminal thursday 23.6.2011 7 pm and will be in Munkedal around 3-4 am next morning. We start driving back sunday 26.6. around 5-6 pm and will be in Stockholm monday morning before 6 am. Price is 300 sek 1-way from Stockholm to festival area. Price will be cheaper for shorter trips, contact for details. Book your seat preferably by sms to +358-44-3255502 or +358-44-9318545. Please note, bus is organized by finnish punks, not Punk Illegal-crew. Don’t write to them for additional info.
